Stretching
for over 1500 kms, starting from the French/ Spanish
border by the town of Irún till the Spanish/
Portuguese border by the river Miño, Costa Verde
is unlikely any of the other Spanish coasts. While most
of the Andalusian coastline is dry and sun baked, Costa
Verde, as it is evident from the name that means Green
Coast, is rife with dense green forests and grassy hills.
Awash by the waters of the Cantabrian Sea, Costa Verda
offers some of the most breathtaking views, with quiet
beaches that are surrounded by beautiful settings. Set
against rocky mountains, the surrounding Romanesque
architecture and medieval pilgrimage sites in Costa
Verde lend a quaint charm to this quiet Spanish coastal
area. It s long golden beaches are irresistibly beautiful
and a great place for fun and frolic. Some of the important
towns along this region are Castropol, Luarca Cudillero,
Avilé and Gijón. Tourist attractions in
these places, apart from the splendid beaches of course,
include the 13th century old church of Sabugo and fishing
towns with colorful hamlets among others. The beaches
of San Lorenzo, Barro and Salinas deserve a special
mention. Some of the hotels along the Costa Verda Beach
are Hotel Luzana, Hotel El Magistral De Aviles, Hotel
La Villa, Hotel Zabala, Casa Manoli and many others.
